Shut up, Sondow, you're a TP fanboy and, to be perfectly honest, I'm a little disturbed...

pre or post OoT though?

if you liked OoT, you're a traitor to the common cause...

1-3 were the real LoZ games...  just like SA isn't a sonic game in my universe ^_^

Find me an awesome Fire Emblem wallpaper then!

EDIT: Oh yeah, preferably in 1440x900 so it's the right resolution. >_>

?

FE blows, RPG and I established such a thing...

How about a picture I have of Link's intestines being ripped out by Vega (SFA) while that painter chick from FF6 is dipping her brush into Link's open gut while painting a picture of Bowser eating Mario Vore style?

Yes, I am a twisted individual...

You should go look up stuff from Star Ocean, on a more serious point, as I think you'd rather enjoy it...

A common argument between my brother and I is whether Link to the Past or Ocarina of Time deserves the mantle of best Zelda game ever.  This can be explained by the fact that he hates Mario 64's gameplay - he is clearly a fool (for the record I think LttP is awesome too).

Funny that we're both hardcore 2D in our own ways though :)

MM > WW > OoT > > > TP for 3D.
Also I prefer all 3D Zeldas but TP over ALttP. Minish Cap is pro though.

LoZ series...

LoZ2 is the best, but ALttP is the best top-down.
The original, though, is by far the hardest.

Main Reason I don't like OoT: I was 9 when I first played it, and I beat it without dying and without going "what do I do next?"

it was the first time in my gaming career I didn't do that (RPGs, anyway

How the -fuck- did you flawlessly complete OoT when you were -nine years old-?!

I didn't say flawlessly... I said I never died...

Faeries don't let you die ^_^

Further, remember that I've been gaming since I was about 2-3, and I've been around video games since I was in the womb...

Also, I was taking it very slow and careful, as I had only just completed the 2nd mission on LoZ for NES at the time.

Acutually, it comes from be enjoying the NES too much...

See, I used to enjoy how angry my dad got when I'd hit the reset button on the NES, so he sat me down and taught me mario, and helped me through the first level...

then he let me do it on my own, and about halfway through, he reset it...

taught me the value of not hitting the reset button u_u
and he taught me the value of gaming ^_^

I may have problems with him, but I do owe hiim and my mom that much....

It took me about 3+ years to beat OoT, and got stuck in like, five areas. All of them resorted in me stopping to play the game because of the frustration. :(  And that annoying Water Temple!

And I really enjoyed ALttP. Best Zelda game for me.

I loved ALttP.

OoT bothered me a lot...  It was kinda a "let's explore by following the right walls and mapping while making sure you have full life"

and if you talked to everyone  you knew how to kill the boss...

stupid dragon dying by hammer >_>

most disappointing boss fight ever....

You don't know what ALttP is?

A Link to the Past.  Zelda 3 for the SNES

what most retro-gamers consider to be the best game in the series and the defining moment for ARPGs everywhere...

gah... that's as bad as that kid who knew the boss theme from Sonic 2 and called it "Eggman's Theme"...

You make me cry...

ALttP was a good game, it's overrated though. I enjoyed Link's Awakening and Majora's Mask so much more. MM actually had a story and LA was just plain out fun.

Just because the battle against Ganondorf is a reoccuring theme you can't say all Zelda games have the same story. Wind Waker certainly is very different from TP, as is Minish Cap from LA and so on.

Anyone wanna discuss possible timelines?

I disregarded the GB/GBA/DS LoZ games, for reasons that I thought others would assume...

Though I have to say that they aren't bad, and revisit a number of very strong points in the games...

Mostly, it's that the 3D LoZ games are very easy that was a huge turn-off to me...

I watched a friend pick up LoZ and wander around, looking for everything, and getting killed numerous times...  spent 230+ hours maxing both quests + LoZ2

the same friend has recently gotten a maxed file in TP in about 80 hours...

Important note here, in my mind...

TP = 3.4GB
LoZ1+2 = 768 kb

(confirm, please?)

I'm kinda saddened by the fact that so much time and money is put into modern games, but so little comes out of it...

Ninja Gaiden took me about a month of playing to finally beat...  same goes for Contra: Hard Corps.
Ninja Gaiden Black took me about a week of casual playing... same goes for Neo Conta.

EDIT: I didn't pick up NG until about 2 months before NGB was released (about the time I heard of it, I went "What?  Sounds fun!"...  also, C:HC is a game from my childhood that I replayed (because I had forgotten it) shortly before I got my copy of NeoC.  This time difference is not from an evolution of skill, but rather, a difference in the games themselves, to clarify.

Now, I won't say that NGB and NeoC are bad games, because they aren't...  For that matter, neither is TP...

I just wish that for all the time spent on production, or for all the money we shell out, that more would come in a game.

OoT, however, I have plenty of reasons to hate, and here's the one that annoyed me most on my first playthrough of the game:

I'm sure you know it, so do me a favor, sitting on the other side of the world, but still sitting in front of this as you are: Whistle "Zelda's Lullaby"....  go on, don't be afraid or shy or whatever... just the ocarina part, if that's all you remember...

Now boot up LoZ2:AoL

THAT'S Zelda's Lullaby...

and I know the first song and the second song are not the same to you, and that's the part that bothers me... I guarantee that 95+% of gamers would whistle the tune from OoT instead of LoZ2...

Again, a lot like that kid who didn't know who Robotnik was...

GAH... I'm only 19... I shouldn't feel like I grew up in the stone ages of gaming!
